HP2 Megamoto
July 2007 | 12,712 miles Germany – £15,495 – Now Sold
The Megamoto followed on from the Enduro in BMW’s High Performance line-up, retaining the Enduro’s frame but gaining power and receiving an Ohlins rear shock, Akrapovic end can and 17″ wheels. The poise of the bike was pure hooligan with the exhaust note and looks to match, which set it aside as one of our absolute favourite BMW motorcycles. With only 50-odd bikes registered in the UK, these bikes are incredibly rare hence, ultimately, we have had to look further afield to find one. As MCN put so succinctly when they reviewed the bike “The HP2 Megamoto is far more agile, powerful and fun than you’d ever imagine…….If only BMW made their sportsbikes like this, they’d have the Japanese quaking in their boots; it really is that good.”
BMW put their money where their mouth was when they entered the Megamoto into the infamous Pikes Peak hill climb in 2007 with Gary Trachy taking the chequered flag with a time of 11:46 in the 1200cc class (although the fastest bike up the hill overall was a 110kg 750cc prototype with a very diminutive rider meaning that the combination of bike and rider was actually less than the BMW on its own. It was only 5 seconds faster!).
